ELV Porsche 997/987/Caymen

With the Porsche 997 / 987 / Caymen, one of the most common causes for the ignition not turning on is a defective steering column lock (ELV).

This always has the effect that the ignition cannot be switched on and the car does not start.

These motors have one of the following part numbers :

99761815800, 99761815801, 99761815802, 99761815803, 99761815804

In some vehicles, this error is then shown in the speedometer display “steering defective” or “steering locked” or something like that “.

With some vehicles, however, unfortunately, not even that. Then simply nothing happens when you turn the key to turn on the ignition.

These motors are not pure motors, they are the actuators with integrated control unit.

If they try to operate such a device without adjustment on the car, then the immobilizer is active and the ignition can not be switched on!

To fit a used steering column lock to your vehicle, you would need to send us your old steering column lock motor or the entire steering column, at least one ignition key and the alarm control unit ( PAS ).

The old steering column locking motor must be disassembled for reading the data, it is unusable after this procedure!
