In the VW Touareg / Phaeton, Porsche Cayenne, Audi A8 and Bentley Continental, one of the common causes that the ignition can not be switched on, is a defective steering column lock (N360).

This always has the effect that the ignition cannot be switched on and the car does not start.

obstructed.
In some vehicles, this error is then displayed in the speedometer display “steering defective or something like that “.

With some vehicles, however, unfortunately not. Then simply nothing happens when you turn the key to turn on the ignition (This is often the case with the A8 and the VW Phaeton / Touareg after facelift).
These motors are not pure motors, they are the actuators with integrated control unit.
These devices can normally only be taught once, i.e. they cannot simply be replaced and the car would start.
If they try to operate such a device without adjustment on the car, then the immobilizer is active and the ignition can not be switched on!
To fit a used steering column lock to your vehicle, you would need to send us your old steering column lock motor or the entire steering column, at least one ignition key and the FBS/Kessy control unit.
If a workshop has already tried to adjust something on the vehicle, we then also need the engine control unit or, in the case of vehicles with two engine control units, one of the engine control units.
The old steering column locking motor must be disassembled for reading the data, it is unusable after this procedure!
